Paper: The Steps on How to Dye Your Own Hair

Learning how to dye your own hair can save you lots of money. Who wants to pay a salon? First you have to choose your color. It can be very fun trying different colors. So decide what color you would like your hair to be. You can search the web for sites that show you what you would look like with color in your hair. You would have to upload a picture of yourself first. Once you have chosen your color you will need to decide whether you would like a permanent or a semi-permanent color. A semi-permanent allows you to experiment, and a permanent will last longer. If it’s your first time, I would go with the semi-permanent. Once you have chosen your color you are ready to get started. It's usually recommended to do a strand test before you dye your hair. If you are a first time user it’s totally up to you. Now let’s gather your materials. This is what you will need a plastic glove, Vaseline, comb, dye, conditioner, and a towel. Now rub Vaseline all around your hair and neckline and around the ears. This will help the dye from staining your skin. Because dye can stain your clothes, it would be a good idea to wear some of your old clothes while you dye your hair. No matter how hard you try you will get dye somewhere in your clothes. Then you pour the liquid dye in the developer and shake it well for at least 15-20 seconds. Immediately following, part your hair into four sections. Starting at your roots in your part, ensure that you cover the roots fully, moving section by section through your hair. Also be sure to fully cover your hair line, temples and around the ears and neckline. Once you have covered all your hair, squeeze the remaining mixture into your palms and massage into your hair. Now that the mixture is fully applied, throw way the bottle and pile your hair up on your head. If it is long enough clip or tie a band around your hair, then piled it on top of your head. This should help keep the dye from dripping. Let the dye stay on for about 30 to 40 minutes. While waiting for the indicated amount of time, make sure you don’t lean on or touch any furniture or clothing with the dye. Next add water to your hair and massage the mixture as though it were a shampoo before you wash it out fully. Rinse hair with warm water, in till the water runs clear down the sink. Do not shampoo! Shampoo can cause the color to rinse out. Wait at least 24 hours before you shampoo your hair. Now you can condition your hair. The conditioner helps your hair to stay soft. It also helps seal in the color so I'd recommend using it. Finally you can rinse out the conditioner; blows dry your hair to see the dazzling new color. This is how you dye your hair. Once you learn how to dye your hair, you will want to try new colors. If this was your first time, I hope you enjoyed the experience. ...
