Paper: An Analysis of Sex

For some reason children and teenagers react and respond better to characters ina television show than with their own family. One might say that the old saying Monkey see, monkey do would be how you could describe it. Only we need to get more television shows like Party of Five, Felicity, and E.R and our children and teenagers would know more. With our children and teenagers knowing more about sexually transmitted diseases and condoms, they will be able to make there own decision on weather to have sex or not. They might even go to a health service department for free advise for condoms and STDs as did Felicity in one episode when she had decided she was going to have sex. (Sex On TV) There are networks out there for the younger children to watch without the parents having to worry about what they might see. Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network, are all three good networks that are made for children. Parents even can get the parental control box for there television. Sex on television isnt corrupting our society. As Terence Smith said in the interview, ...lets see less drinking on television, lets see less drug use. In other words, where do you stop? We cant blame everything that is bad in our society on television, its just not going to work. The Kaiser study concludes that: In the future debate about sex on television, it may well be more important to consider how sex is shown rather than how much it is shown. (Sex ON TV) Everyone has there own opinion on this topic and it is an endless debate whether there is to much sex on television or not. If we blame television for corrupting the youth of our nation then we should blame television for people falling in love, dieing, getting cancer, and the like because it is all there also. *Bibliography** Sex On TV.
