The major language spoken in Coppell is English, but a sizeable minority speaks Spanish. As of last year the population in Coppell was 31,511 inhabitants, and the average age of those inhabitants were 32-34 years old. The population of Coppell has taken a huge jump of over 10,000 inhabitants in the last 10 years. The female to male ratio is estimated to be equal, but throughout the country there are slightly more females then males. In Coppell, Christianity is the most practiced religion and churches can be found all over Coppell. The ethnicity in Coppell is mostly Caucasian (74.5%), but Asians make up 13.5%, African Americans make up 3.5%, Hispanics makes up 8%, and Native Americans make up . 5% of the population. Coppell is an upper-middle class suburb of Dallas. For the most part, the citizens of Coppell travel outside of Coppell for their work; the majority works in Dallas. In 1986 Coppell grew to be a suburb of Dallas, what is now known as a bedroom community. The human- environment interaction with Coppell has grown stronger throughout the last decade. When Coppell was transforming into a suburb, farmland was cleared to make room for shopping strips. Trees were knocked and a hill was leveled down so that plazas could be formed. Canals and were made to serve the citizens, and the farmland was smoothed to provide a flat surface for upcoming roads. In some cases the creeks overflow into backyards and a fence-like structure needs to be up to stop it. The movement in Coppell is diverse. The school bus is the main form of public transportation in Coppell, even though it needs to be paid for. Much more of private transportation is seen in Coppell than public transportation. The parent drop/pick up was such a problem at CHS that the staff had to find another locations for the drop/pick up to stop traffic congestion.
